Urban culture and kimono

As a teenager, I had to travel often; Father's not-so-rare business trips for the whole family "forced" us to break out of the bitter-sweet routine of everyday life and move for months, sometimes to one country, sometimes to another. This process was always the same, tiring for the big ones and full of adventures for the little ones. I remember many such trips, but I especially remember the trip to Japan - the amazing culture, the bustling streets of Tokyo and the quiet beauty of Kyoto left an indelible mark on my future. I especially remember the Japanese approach to fashion, the elegant, different and colorful kimonos that have stood the test of time. At that time, I probably did not realize that this early experience would shape my style to a large extent, and many years later it would have a certain influence on Tbilisi's urban style life.
A kimono is more than just a garment; These are masterpieces of intricate patterns and rich fabrics that convey deep tradition and culture, but also tell a story. I remember observing girls on the streets of Tokyo, watching them move gracefully in their kimonos, and marveling at how something could be so traditional, so current, and so elegant at the same time. The versatility of the kimono and its one-of-a-kind ability to be both formal and casual really impressed me.
Until my teenage years and in the following years, when I immersed myself in Tbilisi's urban lifestyle and began to search for my own style, I discovered that the street fashion of our city was inspired by different cultures, including Japanese aesthetics. The minimalist yet impressive design, the layering technique, the bold use of colors and patterns, all resonated with my personal style. Since then, the kimono has taken an indispensable place in my urban wardrobe, not as a garment, but as a statement piece - whether it's a traditional silk kimono or a jacket inspired by a modern vibe, this garment adds a unique touch to any outfit. The combination of kimono with ripped jeans, a crop top and an urban style, even a slightly battered batik, creates a perfect mix of tradition and modernity, which accurately reflects the dynamic spirit of Tbilisi's urban style.
I think my passion for fashion originates from my childhood travel experiences, but living in this unique Asian country, Japan, became an integral part of my identity, which later had a certain influence on my visions and relationships with the world. If, like me, you love the urban life of Tbilisi, going to clubs with your friends, or just skating in parks all day, then your style should be versatile and practical, but at the same time individual. A kimono is just that—comfortable and free-flowing, making it perfect for a night of dancing or a casual day at the skate park.
In a world where trends change rapidly, the kimono's enduring appeal and ability to adapt to modern times reminds me once again that style is more than just clothing - it's an homage to the past and a bold step into the future.
