I think being an urbane, in a big dose or not, is at least a small dose of being brave and fearless. So, every time a new story, i.e. a new tattoo is added to my body (which usually happens several times a year), I choose a tattoo artist with great enthusiasm. And the criterion is always the same - he must be a warrior, fearless and urbane like me.
That's how I discovered Natia - a girl who "lights a bonfire where it is forbidden".
Urbaner: Tell me about yourself.
Natia: I am Natia Vepkhvadze, aka Nemibi - an artist and researcher of life in general. I research everything, from my own head, to other people, to specific events; In short, my brain is always on, sometimes actively, and sometimes completely stuck. Perhaps this is the most turning moment that prompts me to create something. I am currently trying to discover new things in myself and then make it visible to others through art. Sometimes I draw sketches, and sometimes I create clothes or music.
Urbaner: When did you become interested in tattoo art?
Natia: I have been drawing tattoos for 8 years and like everything else, this happened spontaneously in my life. One day I discovered that I wanted to paint the bodies that carried them through their existence and told their stories. After all, a tattoo is art - it is a story that appears on our body at different stages of life and moves with us in time and space. During this time, many sketches found their people and vice versa. This process is extremely pleasant and interesting for me as an artist.
Urbaner: How would you describe your style and direction? Does it change over time or is the baseline the same?
Natia: My works are not living types; Each of them has its own specific message. I create for freedom, for those who see, feel and can develop. I believe that every painting will find its person. I have a world of my own creation, a world where everything changes rapidly and is never the same. The main idea for me is to experiment as much as possible, and most importantly, to have a permanent and continuous emotional bond with the sketches, clothes, and music I create.
Urbaner: What is the work process like? Starting from drawing a sketch, ending directly with the process of drawing a tattoo?
Natia: As for the process of creating sketches, it happens spontaneously, it has neither time nor place - it is a process from dreams to wakefulness. The process of drawing a tattoo is both a great pleasure and a great responsibility at the same time. At this time, I forget everything, turn off my thoughts and completely concentrate on the forms of the painting. When creating an individual sketch, it is very important to correctly select the shapes, and then the body part, so as not to disturb the body's anatomy, color, and most importantly, not to destroy the integrity of the sketch. In this process, it is also vitally important for me to create the most comfortable space for the person who controls his body.
Urbaner: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Natia: I think the main inspiration is the Gen Z generation - ghetto kids, who "light a bonfire where it is forbidden". The feeling of protest has always been with me, and this feeling has become the main source of development. For me, clothes are also the fruit of this protest - they express what we cannot say. This is what unites us and at the same time separates us from each other - our dirty shoes, which can go anywhere. It is at this time that I hear the rhythm of my energies. I have often seen fire in my eyes I see it in the bright mirrors of the street, when I'm in a hurry somewhere, or when I'm obsessed with thoughts. That's when I get inspiration, which finds its expression in the creation of sketches, clothes, or music.
